You can forego your car for awhile and walk to a convenience store, or to your office, if it's nearby. That means taking advantage of every opportunity you get to walk and lose weight. 4. It's good for the health. Any type of exercise is good for the health, of course. But with walking, almost anyone can do it anytime, when he wishes. Walking can ease someone when he's troubled. It's good against serious conditions like coronary heart disease, stroke and certain types of cancer. Walking is recommended to those who had just recovered from heart disease or stroke. Walking helps anyone sleep better at night. It increases cognitive performance, improves breathing, reduces blood pressure, fights depression, helps in preventing osteoporosis, reduces the risk of diabetes and enhances immune system. Since it helps improve blood circulation, it has a good overall effect on the body and contributes to general well-being. Over all, you can lose weight by walking but, I suggest that you also perform some cardio activity to make the best of your weight loss efforts. Increase the intensity and progress in time as you get used to your routine, and make sure that you diversify your exercises weekly.
